Basil Wolverton

"Common Types of Barflize"

A complete set of all 36 different 'BASIL WOLVERTON BARFLIZE' etchings. This 36 etching complete set also comes with a bonus #37 etching, a portrait of the artist Basil Wolverton, hand signed by the etcher and by Basil's son Monte. Limited to only 75 complete, signed sets.

Basil Wolverton might be best remembered for his work in the 1950s on the EC comic book (since turned magazine) MAD.

In 1974, Basil and Monte Wolverton issued a small comic entitled "Common Types of Barflyze" featuring 33 different original Basil Wolverton drawings specially designed for this series. In 2007, Monte and Richard Parks got together to produce the first Basil Wolverton etchings -- based on this original series (including 3 additional Barflyze not originally published in 1974). Each of the 36 different Barflyze were remastered as intaglio etching plates and are being produced in limited, signed and numbered editions of only 100 prints each. Once these 100 prints are sold, there will be NO further prints made of the edition. Each etching is hand inked and pressed, signed and numbered by the etcher Richard Parks. Each plate has been personally approved and authorized by Monte Wolverton. Each etching is produced on acid free archival French Arches etching paper using hand mixed ink, each has a strong plate impression all around and includes Basil Wolverton's trademark signature in the plate.

The art area measures 5x7" and has ample margins all around for matting and framing. It is produced on heavy ARCHES French acid free archival etching paper. Signed in the plate Basil Wolverton, signed in pencil in the lower right by the etcher, Richard Parks. Titled lower left and individually numbered lower center.
